AFZO was created to enhance and sustain relationships between African free zones and government institutions. This union of African free zones will facilitate cooperation to achieve strategic objectives and will contribute on the socio-economic development of AFZO members.
Categories of membership
Members who participated in the creation and founding of the Association. An additional Qualified Member among the Active Members may be appointed by unanimous vote of the qualified members.
Active membership is open to any:
- Economic Zone whose head office is located in an African country
- Ministry or dismemberment of a ministry of an African country in charge of the development of Economic Zones, Investment promotion or industrial development
- Chamber of commerce of an African country
- Regulatory authority of Economic Zones of an African country
Individuals who by their prestige or their contribution to the association agree to be a member of the AFZO. They will have access to select AFZO Member Services, including research reports and networking events; however, they do not have voting rights during the General Assembly, which takes place on a yearly basis at the AFZO Annual Meeting.
Associate membership is open to any public or private entity, whose main activity consists in carrying out services for the benefit of Economic Zones based in Africa. It must have already performed services for Economic Zones on the day of the application. Associate members have access to the full range of membership services; however, they do not have voting rights in the General Assembly, which takes place on a yearly basis at the AFZO Annual Meeting.
